Prospect Park

Prospect Park, PA is a borough in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Its population was 6,454 in the 2010 census. The borough was originally known as Moore and was incorporated in 1894. Its land is just under one square mile and has a population of around 2000 people. The town was once a battleground over real estate. However, John Cochran, a Chester merchant, bought 103 acres from Joshua Pierson with the intention of dividing it up. It is also easily accessible by rail, with a connection to Amtrak. In 1874, John Cochran, a Chester businessman, bought the land and divided it up into lots for development. This subdivision developed into Prospect Park when the Reverend Mark Watkinson, pastor of Prospect Hill Baptist Church, persuaded the U.S. Congress to put the motto "In God We Trust

The municipal offices of Prospect Park are located at 720 Maryland Avenue. Prospect Park is close to several other commuter suburbs that were developed in the late nineteenth century. Ridley Park, Norwood, and Glenolden are just a few of these. Although the towns were originally planned as separate towns, the subsequent development made them practically contiguous.
