Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts

The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts is located at 118-128 N Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19102. This art museum features works from the Renaissance, Baroque, 18th, and 19th centuries, as well as works by 20th century artists such as Picasso, Miro, and Paul Klee. The museum's collection also includes works by American artists such as Thomas Eakins and Charles Wilson Peale, as well as Asian works like jade, porcelain, and oriental carpets.

The Franklin Institute houses fossils from prehistoric land and sea beasts. Visitors can immerse themselves in the prehistoric period, and see full-size models of these ancient creatures. Make sure to make a reservation for this museum, and purchase your tickets in advance so you won't miss a single exhibit. You can learn more about the history of the freedom bell through interactive exhibits and a film. The late-1800s tour of the liberty bell was designed to unite different factions following the Civil War. The bell completed its tour in Philadelphia in 1915.

The Benjamin Franklin Building is another notable landmark of Philadelphia's artistic community. Constructed in 1916, it was originally home to the Hudson Motor Company. In the early 2000s, PAFA purchased the building, renaming it after founding board member Samuel "Sam" Hamilton, who passed away in 1997. This building is now the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts' School of the Art, as well as the school's special exhibition spaces.

The African American Museum of Philadelphia features an impressive collection of colorful butterflies. The museum is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is staffed by trained volunteers. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. In addition to the museum's permanent exhibitions, visitors can experience the U.S. Navy's most decorated battleship, the Battleship New Jersey. Visitors can take a self-guided "Fire Power Tour" or enjoy guided tours of the Engine Room and Turret II.

In addition to the museum's galleries and exhibition spaces, visitors can also take in some science experiments. The museum's IMAX theater and Fels Planetarium are great attractions. The Franklin Institute is adjacent to the Philadelphia Zoo. It is free to visit and features science exhibits from several centuries. Franklin Park is also home to the Philadelphia Zoo, the Rodin Museum, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. There are many other attractions in the area, such as ball fields, tennis courts, and hiking paths.
